Interior mods.... possibly happening soon

As of now I am preparing to use my xmas money to install power door locks and a remote starter on the car. The door locks can be done for about $40 and the starter for about $80.... The starter will add the keyless entry for the locks. So keyless entry and remote starter for about $120 with the help of a friend on the install. May make the winter a little more bearable (sp?).

I have heard a number of you talk about the remote start as a bad idea but I don't really see the negative to it.... I don't want to have to walk out in teh freezing cold more than I have to and this should make it easier on the car as well since it won't be driven before it's ready.

bad idea in a manual tranny car... cause it's a pain to install, and dangerous if you leave the car parked in gear like i do.

not an issue with auto.

I'd love to have remote start on all my cars, specially with the cold as weather, and leaving the house at 5:15am.

exactly.... I have an auto so it's possibly the one and only perk of it. 5am isn't an exciting time to freeze for me either. When I walk the dog, start it up and put her away and hop into a warm car.... TA DA.

didnt seem that hard to do, as long you know what youre doing. and theres an alarm out there, i think made by clifford or something that is specifically made for manuals. and always leave the car in neutral! unless its a hill.

It will bejust as easy to install a remote start on a five speed, as an auto. All you have to do is hookup the clutch safety switch. And you have to remember to park it in neutral and ebrake up.

It\'s not the size of your engine, it\'s how you build it.

I will be ordering the door lock kit this week hopefully and then use my X-mas cash to order the remote start/keyless entry kit.

remote start would be killer. the Corolla could use it, but i always put the car in gear, and why waste the money on a car that might not last much longer.

Well I bought the door lock kit today, after I get those installed I will make the final decision on which remote start/keyless entry unit I want. Hopefully I'll have it all in by the end of January.

I like apple cider, but why are we talking about it?

Ed, I don't need an alarm in central illinois.... otherwise I'd be on that.

not really, well you gotta interrpt the cable. thats what enables the car to start without the clutch being pressed in.
